IALS FELLOWSHIPS: 2011-2012

Applications are now being invited for the following Fellowships, tenable for the period  1 October 2011 – 31 August 2012 or for any period (being at least three months) between those dates.

VISITING FELLOWSHIPS
These Fellowships are designed for persons already established in their own field of activity who are undertaking work within fields covered by or adjacent to the Institute's own research programmes or interests, which are currently in the following areas of research: Access to Justice; the Legal Profession; Legal Education; European Law; Legislative Drafting; Company and Commercial Law; International Financial Regulation; Financial services law; Access to legal information. (NB: While these topics are preferred, the Institute is ready to consider other proposals).

 
The Fellowships are not confined to academic lawyers but are also open to scholars of other disciplines working in the relevant fields, and to practising lawyers or judges with scholarly projects to pursue.  They are not available to support postgraduate students’ research.
 

 

 

Internships are available at the secretariat in London.

The CLA recruits interns for a minimum period of 3 months to carry out administrative and project related work.  Internships at the CLA are unpaid. All interns must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Project related internships require:

Analysis of project opportunities, funding and mechanisms available to the CLA:

Research into one or more of the following fields

 
i.
Governance & the Rule of Law
ii.
Corruption
iii.
Codes of Conduct/Ethics for the profession
iv.
Mobility of the profession

Production of a report indicating the nature and strength of the demand from around the Commonwealth for project work in this particular field,  in what particular form, and what funding opportunities are available.

 
IALS Visiting Fellowship
The fellowship is designed for person already established in their own field activity who is undertaking work within fields covered by or adjacent to the institute’s own research programmes or interests.

 LLM in Advanced Legislative Studies

The LLM in Advanced Legislative Studies builds upon the existing resources and staff   
experience in postgraduate tuition in the field of legislative drafting at the Sir William Dale Centre for Legislative Studies at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies.The LLM in Advanced Legislative studies via Distance Learning will be a part time programme, with duration of two years.
