Dr Jemma King

Dr Jemma King has a PhD in Human Behaviour and is a Stress, Sleep and Emotional Intelligence expert. Jemma is a Fellow at UQ School of Psychology and works as a specialist advisor to McKinsey & Co. She has consulted to the Australian Defence Force and the Centre for Australian Army Leadership, the Australian Institute of Sport, and the Australian Olympic Swim Team. Jemma has tailored a pre-deployment ‘Performance Optimisation Program’ for Special Operations Command that has effectively displayed measurable improvements in behavioural and performance-based outcomes. Jemma guest lectures at the University of Sydney MBA on critical thinking and decision making. She teachers Leadership at the Australian Command and Staff Course at the Australian Defence College. She supervises PhD students at the UQ School of Psychology, and is conducting several research projects including; ‘Executive Leadership Factors of Performance’, and ‘Leaders’ Impact on Team Psychological Safety’ with Harvard Profesor Amy Edmondson. Jemma is a reviewer for The Journal of Management Education. She was an Associate Lecturer in Organisational Behaviour at the University of Queensland Business School (courses included Leadership, Team Dynamics, Ethics, Motivation). Jemma also consults to large organisations and privately consults to many C-Suite executives. She helps executives perform under pressure, manage stress and foster team performance. Her qualifications include Bachelor of Science, Majoring in Psychology, Bachelor of Business Management 1st Class Honours, and Doctor of Human Behaviour. She has also studied psychoneuroimmunology, endocrinology, neuroscience, anatomy, and medical microbiology. Jemma has three teenage children and lives in Brisbane.
