

Nancy Williams

Nancy Williams is a human rights barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, a leading civil liberties set in London. Nancy’s practice is primarily focused on cases involving vulnerable members of society. She has been recognised as a leading junior barrister in the practice area of Court of Protection by the UK Legal 500 Directory.
Nancy was born in Sierra Leone and maintains strong personal links to the country. Nancy was an intern on the UNDP Access to Justice programme in 2011 in Freetown. She drafted the Sentencing Guidelines and Practice Direction for the Anti-Corruption division of the Sierra Leonean High Court on behalf of the UK Sierra Leone Pro Bono Network. In addition, she provided training on legal drafting to anticorruption prosecutors and investigators; discussed the consultation drafts of the Sentencing Guidelines and the Practice Direction with judges; and met with the Anti-Corruption Commissioner and members of the Anti-Corruption Commission. The Sentencing Guidelines and Practice Direction were published in October 2022.
Nancy is a member of the International Committee of the Bar Council of England and Wales; she is also a member of the Africa, Commonwealth and Rule of Law sub-committees. Nancy is the Secretary of the Corporate and Commercial Law Committee of the CLA.
