A2 : The Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts – Judges and Lawyers working together across the Commonwealth to address courts users’ needs

This unique session is convened by the CLA in partnership with the Standing International Forum of Commercial Courts (SIFoCC). SIFoCC was established in 2017 to bring together the commercial courts of the world to share best practice and play their part in furthering the rule of law. Its membership now covers every continent bar one.

The session focusses on subjects of importance for commercial dispute resolution – and the rule of law – across the Commonwealth, from effective case management, to technology, to international collaboration, to the relationship between courts and arbitration, to the changing landscape for business and for economies the world over. It will address present and future challenges.

Chaired by Mr Justice Robin Knowles, judge with day to day responsibility for SIFoCC, this session takes the form of a discussion and encourages active audience participation. There is an opportunity to engage with a diverse panel, including senior judicial figures, and to share ideas from the perspective of the judiciary and practitioners, and collaboratively. Panellists include Chief Justice Brian Moree, The Bahamas, and Chief Justice Mr Bryan Sykes, Jamaica and the session will be attended by Lord Chief Justice Ian Burnett, England and Wales.
