C10 : Will your legal practice survive in the 2020s? Essentials for maintaining a successful law practice

Premises, staff, resources, and the use of AI all came under scrutiny during the COVID crisis as lawyers learned to work online, from home, and without personal contact with clients or opponents. This session will examine how economic savings and budgetary constraints brought about by the pandemic can translate into a long-term strategy for success. The expectations of clients and courts for legal offices to be equipped to handle the technological requirements of online advocacy and the economic impact these will have on practices. Presenters will also canvas the implementation of new measures in transactional law to execute documents which traditionally required personal attendance with a lawyer, identity verification and certification, use by lawyers and others of digital signatures, and some liability issues which these measures may well give rise to.
