Philip Rule KC

King’s Counsel (England & Wales). Has appeared in the British Indian Ocean Territory courts representing Chagossians, and is also called in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Cayman Islands, and with special admission in Turks & Caicos Islands. Has advised or appeared also on matters before the Privy Council originating in the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Jersey and the Falkland Islands. Philip has been appointed amicus curiae to the Caribbean Court of Justice. Other work across the commonwealth has included advice and pleadings in Bermuda, Belize, and St. Kitts and Nevis. Philip’s expertise in appellate work encompasses many different areas of law, from public law to criminal, to extradition, to civil, and more, and is frequently involved in cases concerned with various intersections of the law which call for broad overview and an ability to rapidly assimilate the local law and offer expert advice.

Philip is the CLA Council Member for the BIOT, and a member of both the CLA’s Public and Administrative Law Committee and Climate Justice Committee.

He chaired a session on data privacy at the CLA Conference in Malta.
