
Tanisha Jahangir Monir

Tanisha graduated from Amity Law School, NOIDA in the year 2015 as a valedictorian. She also bagged the coveted honours for ‘Best All Round Student’ and ‘Achievement for Excellence in Knowledge Creation.’ During her student days, she was the Convenor of the Moot Court Society and captain of the Rifle Shooting Team. She joined the practice of Justice J.J. Munir (now elevated to the Bench at the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad), where she managed to amass an experience in diverse range of matters concerning constitutional, service, civil, criminal, tax, and revenue cases. In the year 2020, she was appointed as a Counsel to the panel representing the Union of India, which she continues to do, till date. In the year 2023, she managed to secure her Masters in Corporate and Financial Laws from the Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat. She has been managing her practice as an independent counsel since the year 2017, and has most notably, successfully argued two death references in favour of death row convicts and secured orders for commutation of death sentence into life imprisonment in both cases. She represents corporate bodies like Housing Development and Finance Corporation Bank, Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation, Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation, New Okhla Industrial Development Authority, and National Highway Authority of India. She also pursues pro bono cases in capacity of being a panel member of the Allahabad High Court Legal Service Committee and Allahabad High Court Middle Income Group Legal Aid Society.
She holds a black belt in Taekwondo. She has been a national level rifle shooting player and has actively competed in .177 (10 metre range) and .22 (50 metre range) Rifle Shooting Competitions, securing a number of accolades and medals at state level. She also secured a gold medal in the National Crossbow Shooting Championship, 2019 and represented her country at World Crossbow Championship, 2019 held at Ulyanovsk, Russia. She has represented her country at Professional Darts Developer Malaysia Masters, 2023 and won a medal in women’s doubles.
