📝 Young writers across the Commonwealth are invited to take part in the 2026 edition of the Queen’s Commonwealth Writing Competition 2026, now officially open for submissions.

This year’s theme, Common Ground: Better Together,” celebrates the diversity and unity of the Commonwealth—a global community spanning continents, cultures, and generations. Despite differences in language, geography, and lived experience, member nations share common values, challenges, and aspirations for the future.

The competition encourages participants to explore how connection and collaboration can bring people together and drive meaningful progress. Entrants are asked to reflect on what unites communities and how shared experiences can inspire positive change.

Deadline: 30 April 2026

Eligibility Criteria

To enter, participants must:

  • Be 18 years old or under on 30 April 2026
  • Be a Commonwealth national or resident
  • Submit a written piece under 1,000 words based on one of the official 2026 competition questions via the entry form
