The Young Commonwealth Lawyers Association Committee (YCLA) is pleased to announce a call for articles for the inaugural edition of its Young Lawyers Newsletter—a dynamic new platform dedicated to elevating the voices, perspectives, and expertise of early-career lawyers across the Commonwealth.

At a time when artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping legal systems, practice, and professional ethics, this first issue will centre on the timely and transformative theme of AI and the law. From regulatory challenges and ethical considerations to innovation in legal services and access to justice, contributors are invited to explore how emerging technologies are redefining the legal landscape.

The Editor, Siddharth Sijoria, warmly invites submissions that engage with recent legal developments, emerging trends, and forward-thinking commentary on the intersection of AI and legal practice.

If you are a lawyer under 40 or within seven years of call or admission, this is your opportunity to contribute to a publication created by and for the next generation of Commonwealth lawyers, and to help shape the global conversation on the future of law in an AI-driven world.

Submission Guidelines

  • Articles should address recent legal issues or developments in any Commonwealth jurisdiction, with clear relevance to young legal professionals and a focus on AI and the law.
  • Submissions must include the author’s name, designation, organisation/law firm, email address, and country within the body of the article (not only in the covering email).
  • Articles should be 1,500–2,000 words and submitted in Microsoft Word format.
  • Please send submissions to info@commonwealthlawyers.com.
  • The Editor reserves the right to edit all accepted submissions.
  • Articles must be original and unpublished, and may not be republished without prior permission from the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA).
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring their work does not infringe copyright laws.
  • Upon publication, the CLA retains the right to republish the article in its Journal.
  • The Editor strongly encourages diversity in both topics and contributors.
  • Due to the high volume of submissions, only successful applicants will be contacted.
