CLA News / CLA Secretary General Brigid Watson reports on her recent visit to the Law Society of Scotland AGM and Annual Dinner
I was honoured and delighted to represent the CLA at the kind invitation of Susan Murray, the President of the Law Society of Scotland (LSS) at their Annual Dinner on 25th April. The spectacular surroundings of the Kelgrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow made a wonderful backdrop for such an auspicious occasion. Enormous thanks to the Law Society of Scotland for including the CLA in their annual celebrations and particularly to our CLA Council member John Mulholland, former President of the LSS. for his kind hospitality. It was a pleasure to reconvene with Commonwealth colleagues from Scotland who attended the Commonwealth Law Conference (CLC25) in Malta only a few weeks before.
The Council of the Law Society very graciously invited me to observe a portion of their AGM on the previous day, and I was pleased to endorse John’s report of the CLC proceedings and share a bit more about the work of the CLA and its relevance and mutual support framework it offers to Bars and Law Societies across the Commonwealth. The CLA provides opportunities to receive but also to give back experience and expertise. The event, the networking and the warm welcome afforded me by the Law Society shows how important these visits are in relationship building.
Thank you Law Society of Scotland!
