Strengthening Commonwealth connections and our shared commitment to the rule of law

CLA President-Elect Sophie Stanbrook met with the Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey for discussions centred on shared priorities and the values that unite the Commonwealth. 

She was accompanied by the CLA Secretary General, Brigid Watson and CLA Policy Advisor, Helen Jones, with the meeting providing an important opportunity to discuss the principles enshrined in the Commonwealth Charter, including the rule of law, good governance, human rights and access to justice. 

As she prepares to take on the CLA Presidency, the meeting also reflected the importance of strong relationships and continued collaboration across Commonwealth institutions. 

United by common values and purpose, the CLA remains committed to working with Commonwealth partners to strengthen and uphold the rule of law across the Commonwealth.
