On 25th January 2019 at the splendid location of the recently opened Convention Centre of the Bahamar Resort, Nassau, CLA members attended the 7th annual Arbitration and Investment Summit.  This meeting was organised by CLA Council member Dr Peter Maynard.  The Minister of Finance & Enterprise was one of the opening speakers and an opportunity was afforded at the opening for an address by CLA President, Santhaan Krishnan.  Dr Maynard kindly acknowledged the presence of Brian Speers the CLA Vice President from Northern Ireland and Laurie Pawlitza from Toronto CLA Council member and Chair of the Americas Hub of the CLA.

There was a wide and impressive list of speakers contributing to the conference which lasted throughout the day.

The conference was supported by CLA through the good offices of Dr Peter Maynard who kindly arranged a dinner to be hosted by Bahamas Tourism and Aviation Minister Hon. Dionisio D’Aguila at the historic Graycliff Restaurant in old town Nassau.  The Tourist Minister greeted delegates from the Arbitration Conference and the CLA members in attendance who were pleased to be joined at dinner by Hon. Elsworth Johnson, Minister of State for Legal Affairs for the Bahamas who was a past President of the Bahamas Bar Association.

Dr Maynard formerly welcomed the CLA President, Santhaan Krishnan, the visitors from Canada and Northern Ireland to the dinner and also the other delegates from the successful Arbitration and Investment summit.  Brian Speers, Vice President of the CLA expressed the appreciation of guests, other speakers and in particular the CLA delegation to Dr Maynard and to the Bahamas Tourist Association for their generous hospitality in hosting a magnificent dinner.  The contacts made at the Conference and during the dinner will surely result in an increased participation in the CLA from all those in attendance.
